Thomas Edison had over 1,000 “learnings” to create the light bulb. Edison didn’t create it because it came to him and presto “there was light”. Edison was unwilling to stop until he got the result he knew was possible and in doing so he changed our lives forever. If you want to leave a lasting legacy are you willing to push through the learning?

Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. When a reporter asked, “How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?” Edison replied, “I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps.”

Not everyone has this learning mentality to fanatically seek progress and innovation. Here’s a look at the 4 types of mind sets that set the tempo of your life and legacy.

  1. The Progress Suckers: Those that see what is wrong and live with it, they hope things will change but they are unwilling to do what it takes to stand up and make progress happen.
  2. The History Holders: Those that live in the past, they hold tightly to the past and limit the possibilities for tomorrow. The past is over folks. It can teach us, but it does not define the potential of our future.
  3. The Spirit Takers: Those that stir the pot and talk about other people, they are the drama seekers. They undermine others to boost their own spirit never realizing that their negativity only limits their own potential as well as those around them.
  4. The Learner Champions: Those that imagine what is possible and are willing to make it happen regardless of the trips and falls along the way. They are curious about how to take things to their next level, they push for progress and stand for what they believe is possible.

Our willingness to push through our disappointments is of one mind set. When we focus on the outcome that we believe in and an absoluteness that we will get there we have a different experience and result than when we focus on what is wrong.

Greatness lives in our willingness to push forward. To dare convention. To imagine new possibilities. To have the courage to not let the naysayers slow us down.

You are creating your legacy every day. You were born extraordinary. It’s solely up to you to live extraordinary.

All in,
Renie
